More than a year after he won the ABS-CBN search Little Big Star (first season), hosted by Sarah Geronimo (herself a product of a talent search), Sam Concepcion has not only grown a few inches taller but has also been winning more awards left and right.

Known as the Singing Crush ng Bayan on Little Big Star where he was voted (by text from televiewers) My Favorite Star, Sam bagged the Best Folklore Performance Award (together with the PlayhouseKids) at the World Travel Fair in South Korea, the Pinoy Wannabe title in the Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards, and No. 1 Celeb Cutie honors of Candy mag’s poll, all in 2006. He played the lead character in Miko which received the Best Film award in the Bogen Imaging Film and Video Shorts festival in New York, also last year.

“2006 was a good year for me,” said Sam who’s turning 15 on Oct. 17, keeping his fingers crossed. “I hope this year and the next and the next will be even better.” (more…)

Bakit nga ba inabot ng isang taon in the making ang first solo album ni Sam Con­cepcion?

Kasi naman naging urung sulong ang pagri-record nito dahil feeling ng ilan, hindi pa oras na pumalaot siya sa record­ing dahil sa awkward age nitong 14 yrs. old (turning 15). Kahit panay pa ang voice lesson ni Sam ay nag-aalala pa rin sila dahil sa boses ni­yang alanganing totoy pa at nagbibinata.

Buti na lang buo ang loob ng Universal Re­cords plus malaki ang ti­wala nila sa charm at ta­lents ni Sam. Ngayon ay click na click si Sam sa mga bagets niyang fans kaya nga naging mata­gum­pay ang High School Musical nito na balak pang i-market sa abroad. Ganundin sa mga bata niyang fans na kilala siya sa alyas na “Boy Bawang.” Hindi pa kasama rito ang mga pinagbidahan niyang Sino Ka Ba, Jose Ri­ca­li; The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, Song of Mulan. At pa­giging champion niya ng Little Big Star.
