THE Department of Education (DepEd) and the JNBM Amazing Arts Philippines Incorporated launched the “Husay Ng Batang Pinoy,†a nationwide paper clay art competition Thursday afternoon at the Manila Ocean Park.
With the theme “Ako Para Sa Kalikasan” and the help of DepEd Ambassador Sam Concepcion, the first teen celebrity endorser of the competition, the event aims to encourage the youth to try paper clay art and showcase their talent and skills as young Filipino artists.
Sam, who is in home school right now, is more than happy when he was picked to be the spokesperson of DepEd.
“It is such a learning experience for me to be chosen as DepEd spokesperson and a bigger responsibility to go to schools around the country and share the importance of education,†he said.
Sam has been the celebrity ambassador of the DepEd for more than a year already.
He said he is very proud with the paper clay art and was able to try it since he was a kid.
“I already encountered paper clay art before pa. I remember trying it before when I was little,†Sam said.
He added: “I’m really thankful to be chosen to endorse this product because its proudly Filipino. Manufactured and invented here and this is something we should truly be proud of.”
According to Sam, paper clay art stimulates the imagination, and encourages self-expression, and quality bonding time with family members.
